Why Lifting Weights Is Key for Everyday Life

Why Deadlifts Are Important for Lifelong Strength and Health

Back when I started my fitness journey I hadn't so much as touched a barbell. Today, I can pretty much say deadlifts have literally changed my life.

Some will tell you to avoid deadlifts. But you can't go through life and avoid picking things up off the floor.

Deadlifting is literally impossible to avoid! So you might as well learn how to do them well and reap the benefits.

When most people hear the word “deadlift,” they picture giant barbells stacked with plates and powerlifters straining to move enormous weights. And yes, lifting heavy might be part of the picture—eventually, but the truth is, the deadlift isn’t just for athletes. It’s one of the most practical and powerful movements you can do for your long-term health, confidence, and independence.

The deadlift is a functional movement, meaning it mimics what you already do in everyday life: picking up your kids, carrying groceries, moving furniture, loading luggage into the car. Training this movement in the gym prepares your body to handle these real-world tasks safely and with confidence.

Some of the key benefits include:

You might be thinking: “That’s great, but barbells look intimidating… and I don’t want to hurt myself.”

You’re not alone. Many people, especially beginners, feel nervous about strength training. Big weights, crowded gyms, and the fear of “doing it wrong” can be overwhelming. Unfortunately, that intimidation is what holds so many back from discovering the life-changing benefits of lifting.

At FRVR FIT, we make sure that never happens. Our approach is different. We don't just throw you in a workout and hope you figure it out.

Deadlifts aren’t about being the strongest person in the room. They’re about preparing your body for the life you want to live—playing with your kids, carrying your own groceries, hiking without worry, and staying active for years to come.

When done in the right environment, with the right coaching, strength training becomes empowering instead of intimidating. When I started the gym, I wanted to make strength training accessible, safe, and fun for people of all levels.

So if you’ve ever been curious about strength training but felt hesitant to start—let us show you how simple, safe, and life-changing it can be.
